Lyrics
Walking through life comatose
to everything,
same fucking thing
day after day after day,
you go to work for some obscure reason,
like survival,
and that damn empty feeling
keeps approaching
a little nearer every day.
Apathy approaching alarmingly,
and all I do is sit
like a vegetable
with no reason to wake up,
the days creep by faster and faster
and nothing is accomplished,
that damn empty feeling
keeps approaching
a little nearer every god-damned day.
Yep,
on a train,
in the rain,
in a hurricane,
I feel no pain,
I’m a little insane.
In a plane,
you killed Michael Caine,
nothing to gain,
I feel no pain,
I’m a little insane.
That damn empty feeling
keeps approaching
a little nearer every god-damned day.

Notes
- A Harvey Dog & John Kinsella creation for the Variety Show cassette.
- This was a fun song to play. White-boy blues ending with a little insanity…The Hated Uncles were nothing, if not a Blues band! 🤣
- A nice live version with John & Paul…just as I was losing my voice & soon started swearing at a drum machine.
Recorded: 1989
