Lyrics

Skeleton. Drawing by Harvey Dog

Seven colours there on the wall
I sit down and count them all,
nothing’s going well for me
so I sit and write some poetry.

C – Feed your head,
Grateful Dead,
Acid head,
fuck the rest!

I talked to William Burroughs the other day,
we sat and had a naked lunch,
naked cows, naked pigs, and naked drinks,
I asked him for some advice, and this is what he said.

C

I talked to Allen Ginsberg the other day,
and I told him: “I really hate your poetry,”
and all he said to me was “let me stick it in,”
I said: “no thank you” and this is what he said.

C

I was falling from the sky
when I fell upon a helicopter,
the pilot was strung out on PCP
I asked him how he flew, and this is what he said.

C

I walked into a crowded bar,
and there was an acquaintance who asked me,
“Hey Harv, where do you get all your ideas?”
and this is what I said.

C

Notes

  • This song (to me) epitomizes the original 5-piece Hated Uncles. It captures the energy of the band at that time. Wild & Crazy!
  • The song sprouted its roots when I was staying at Paul’s. After a drunken evening out, Paul & I came home & had the energy to go downstairs and create! Paul came up with the heavy guitar riff & I spouted some poetry on top, and we knew we had something – and we actually remembered it the next day! Bill added some great psychedelic lead on top, while JK & Bruce kept it from floating into the ether!
  • A lot of fun to do live!
  • No – I do NOT hate Allen Ginsberg’s poetry. In fact, I think “Howl” is an American classic. The singer was spitting out random anger & hostile lines while in “a state”.
