Distant (Bad Etiquette)
“Bad Etiquette” cassette, 1992 – Hamilton, ON
John Harvey, John Battaglia, Paul Settle
Lyrics
faces and
eyes,
distant,
away
from my
grasp
hands
reaching
into
emptiness
alone
in this world
of horrors
alien
to my friends
“I don’t know
what’s wrong with
Harv…
he’s so distant”
breath,
on a mirror
there…
then gone
waiting for
something
that’s so distant…
Notes
- One of my favourites from the Bad Etiquette cassette. A quiet, sad one. Paul’s muted trumpet captures the mood beautifully.
- The lyric foreshadows my current reclusive tendencies – I have become rather “distant”.
